Day 1: The Adventure Begins
We kicked off our New Mexico adventure by setting up camp at Coyote Creek State Park, nestled north of Guadalupita. The drive was smooth, and the excitement was high as we arrived at our picturesque campsite. Towering pine trees and breathtaking mountain views greeted us, setting the perfect backdrop for our family trip.
My dogs—Milly, Marvin and their dogs Whiskey, and Ringo—were thrilled, running around and exploring their new surroundings. Jon, Heather, and their two boys, Jake and Cullen, joined us in setting up tent/trailer and getting everything ready for the night. The kids were especially excited to start fishing in the nearby creek.
As the sun began to set, we gathered around in Jon and Heather's trailer for a delicious dinner prepared by Heather. She whipped up some mouthwatering chili, which we enjoyed while sharing stories and laughter.
Day 2: Exploring and Enjoying Nature
The next day, we woke up to the crisp mountain air and the sound of birds chirping. After a hearty breakfast of bacon and eggs, we set out on a hike to explore the surrounding area. The trails offered stunning views, and the kids loved discovering new plants and animals along the way.
We spent the afternoon fishing in the creek, and the boys were thrilled to catch enough fish for lunch. Heather's cooking skills were on full display as she prepared a delicious meal with the fresh catch. The dogs enjoyed playing by the water and keeping a watchful eye on everyone.
The rest of the day was spent relaxing by the creek, taking in the serene surroundings. I took the opportunity to capture some stunning photographs of the landscape and our family enjoying the outdoors. As the day turned into evening, we prepared for another cozy night around the campfire.
Day 3: Venturing Further
On the third day, we decided to venture further into the park. We set off on a longer hike, aiming to reach some of the more secluded areas. The trail led us through dense forest and opened up to breathtaking vistas that seemed to stretch on forever. The kids loved the adventure, and we all enjoyed the sense of exploration and discovery.
After our hike, we returned to camp and spent the evening sharing our favorite moments of the day. The adults appreciated the peace and beauty of the untouched landscapes. Dinner was another hearty meal around the campfire, filled with laughter and great conversation.
Day 4: Relaxation and Recreation
By the fourth day, we decided to take it easy and enjoy some relaxation at the campsite. The kids and dogs had fun playing games, while the adults took some time to simply unwind. The creek provided a soothing backdrop as we lounged by the water, soaking in the tranquility of our surroundings.
Day 5: Reflecting on a Memorable Trip
Our final day was spent soaking in the beauty of Coyote Creek State Park. We took a leisurely hike, took more photos, and enjoyed each other's company. Jon and I stayed up late the previous night, sharing stories and reminiscing over a few beers.
As we packed up to head home, we all agreed that this trip was a perfect blend of adventure, relaxation, and family bonding. The memories we made in New Mexico will last a lifetime, and we can't wait to plan our next outdoor adventure. Stay tuned for more photos from this unforgettable journey!
This trip was more than just a physical journey; it was a mental and spiritual retreat. The beauty of the landscapes, the joy of family moments, and the peaceful solitude of nature all came together to create an experience that rejuvenated our souls and strengthened our bonds. If you ever get the chance, pack your bag, grab your camera, and head out into the unknown. You might just find a piece of yourself you didn't know was missing.
